team is the national football

Association).
The team is widely

Nippon Daihyō”.

nickname

such, it is commenly known
by the

of the manager. For example,

Takeshi
Okada,
the
team is known as Okada
Japan.
Recently the team
has been known or
nicknamed as the
Blue
Samurai.
Japan is one of the
most
successful national
teams in Asia, being
a three-
time winner of the Asian Cup
and
having
qualified for the last four
consecutive World
Cup finals, and they
have
now confirmed their place in
the
final
stages of South Africa
2010.
